Hi
For the past 3-4 months I have been struggling to find any substantial information about the UK colleges(as listed below). I am willing to go to UK through an IELTS band of 7.5.
I have a fairly less score of 580 in GMAT, which I am not using to apply.
Bath
Surrey
Strathclyde
Leeds
Leicester
Nottingham
Nothumbria
Durham
My concerns-
Considering the after-study visa rules in UK and the recession in European markets, to what extent would it be feasible to consider UK for MBA and stay-back after course?
I believe there are more risks in UK but i don't have the option to go to US, though my overall profile is perfectly apt with 4+ yrs of work-exp in IT sector, excellent academics, etc. It would also help if I get to know about the students of these colleges.
Pls suggest as I want to start my applications and my decision will depend a lot on your response. Also, If you require my complete profile, pls let me know.
Thanks!!
Hi Vishal,
We have not been hearing very upbeat reports either about job opportunities for internationals in UK.
If you think you are better suited for the American MBA programs (also consider the 2 year US v/s 1 year UK MBA formats in your decision making), then you should go ahead and apply there. This is a decision that will have a major effect on your life for many years to come, so do what is best for you.
At your age, one year here or there will not matter too much. If you think you have it in you to score better on GMAT, retake the test- this is my recommended strategy. If it can not happen this year as you don't have much time before R2 deadlines, begin the prep and get ready for next year. The extra time in hand will also help you prep on fronts other than work, that will help you differentiate from a highly competitive Indian IT applicant pool.
UKs laws for staying back without work permit are more stringent than America's - that could be another factor that guides your decision making
Hi
Thanks a bunch for your response.
I am strongly in favor of going next year as I feel this is the right time as I have to make certain other moves as well as far as personal life is concerned. So my only concern is regarding the Job prospects specifically of these colleges. Secondly, funding is another problem that restrains me from thinking of US.
And for a more feasible/secure option, what If I give a try at GRE as I gave a mock this weekend and got a score of 296, may be in a month and a half I might pull up scores around 310 -315 which I feel are good enough. whats your take on that?
Any other suggestions regarding the same would help a lot!!
