Prime time for graduates to be own bosses
More students are aiming to set up in business after they get their MBAs

What will become of the class of 2009? Every year 12,000 students graduate from MBA courses at British business schools, but with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development predicting 300,000 redundancies in the first quarter of 2009, will there be any place for this year’s crop of bright young things?

The answer, according to Andrew Burke, director of graduate programmes at Cranfield School of Management, is that the class of 2009 are not waiting to be rejected by employers, but are setting up their own businesses in unprecedented numbers.
