Undergraduate GPA [#permalink] New post 04 May 2009, 21:12
How much will poor undergraduate grades in my finance major affect my application? I graduated from a top 5 UG business school with a 3.3 cum, but received all B- in my finance classes. I scored 700 on the GMAT, and I've been working in real estate PE for 4 years now (promoted from analyst to associate). My leadership activities include on-campus recruiting, mentoring summer analysts, and tutoring high school students.

Thanks for the consideration.

Your grades aren't "poor" by b-school admissions standards that they will be a huge concern. I can understand how as an undergrad you may feel the weight of your GPA because it's front and center for you (and 2-3 years of full-time experience is still something you don't yet have), but the GMAT/GPA combo isn't the be all end all, and neither are your college extracurriculars - they may seem so important because that's all you know now. So long as they're roughly in range, it comes down to the quality of your overall candidacy 2-4 years out of college (i.e. your entire body of accomplishments).
