Unfinished Master's - Chances of getting an admit? [#permalink] New post 16 Dec 2009, 16:55
Hello,

I want some clarification regarding my background. I went to Grad School in the US and did not complete my degree. Can my work experience, GMAT and strong essays offset this negative?

My Profile:
GMAT: 710 (V40, Q48)
Work Exp: 6+ Years in US
Wish to apply to: Oxford, Cambridge, INSEAD

With this background, do I have any chance of getting an admit in any of the above mentioned schools? I would really appreciate it if someone can share their insight.

Thanks very much.

Well not finishing grad school might not be a negative, you just took graduate level courses. I think you just need to explain why that was the right decision for you. Did you have a good job opportunity? money ran out? or personal problems? You might just explain it, but it's not a big issue since it's an additional degree.

Hi
I have a somewhat similar issue, I have an unfinished Phd from a European school. I hadn't taken any courses when I started and I only did about 6 months of research. I realized that the atmosphere and culture of research does not interest me as much. Even though publications may have several authors, I got the feeling that research work is more of a one man show than anything else. I missed the team work aspect of pro work. And I also immigrated to the US. I think these are good reasons, can anyone comment? To nasotw: what were your reasons?
