As a history major in college, I decided that it may be in my best interest to take some accounting, math, finance courses prior to applying to business schools. Does it matter if I go to a university extension program vs. a community college to take these classes? I graduated from UCLA and was going to take accounting through extension, but it was around $450, where as Santa Monica Community College was around$150...both not including books. As long as I get A's, does one look better than the other?>

The only real difference that comes to mind is if the course sounds too advanced to be covered in the first two years of the college/university curriculum then the university extension might be the better bet (basic statistics and calculus clearly fall within the first two years). Otherwise, the community college/JC route would probably be the much more cost effective route. Further, community college courses are clearly credit bearing while many extension courses do not award conventional academic credit.

I completed Calculus I from UC Berkeley extension. About to complete Calculus II from the same institute.

Has a very positive experience doing their course. Yes it is expensive. Around 750\$ per course.
