MS in marketing - University of Rochester [#permalink] New post 19 Jul 2007, 17:44
Since this forum has already discussed on the graduate programs esp MBA and MSF offered by the Univ of ROC- I was wondering if some one could share some info on MS in Marketing too.

I am trying to gather information on the prog. job placements and other related details.

Thanks much!

There are a couple of things I'm not really sure about yet with this school (in particular, which functions are being hired for by investment banks on campus), but after having done some research (speaking to some international bankers - Rochester is associated with a couple of finance gurus and being solid with economics) and looking at what Mark Zupan is doing for the school, I'm pretty sure I'll apply next year. It seems that the quality of education you get there is likely to be quite high - if anyone can let me know if recruiters are aware of it, I'd appreciate some insight.

Just a quick update on the MBA and MS programs at the University of Rochester (Simon):
- Finance is still the area that attracts most candidates, both in the MBA and MSF. These is due to the good rankings in this area, but also because two academic journals are published there; the school also has a MS in finance program located in New York City.
- Marketing is becoming more specialized in Brand Management and Pricing for MBA; For the MS in Marketing, the main focus is on Marketing Research or Consumer Analytics; the school hired recently a professor from Chicago (Ron Goetler) and a professor from Duke (Paul Ellickson).
- Consulting is getting a lot of traction lately, with a recently formed student group, and related to business analytics, which the school is strong on.

Finally, the Simon School is starting a one-year MBA program in 2013 for students with more experience, so an additional option.

Good luck everyone!
