D it is.
A B and C are wrong...
E has a problem, "they" is the trouble and the meaning of the sentence seems to indicate thet SP are scheduled to collect/
D resolves this...

D.
between D & E, D is better and concise. describes purpose crisply with 'in order to collect' and avoids lengthy restrictive clause in E.

Should be D because E is already wrong. E also has pronoun problem. "they" in E is ambigious.

E. D changes the meaning of the sentence. How can be it "last scheduled day"? IMO "scheduled" modifies "the last day to collect"
"they" is close to "workers" and hence correctly refers to it.

Thanks, I got why A, B and C are wrong!
I will write is like that:
(A): Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package...
(B): Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until the last day they are scheduled to collect, workers are eligible for the automobile company's severance package...
(C): Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until their last scheduled day to collect, the automobile company offers its severance package to workers...
(D): Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until their last scheduled day in order to collect, the automobile company's severance package is available to workers...

Between C and D, I'll go with D. Much clearer that it's the severance package that the workers are collecting.
A,B and E all sound like it's the last day the workers are collecting.

I think D is the best!
A) the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package
>> Workers are compared with package.
B) the last day they are scheduled to collect, workers are eligible for the automobile company's severance package
>> Workers are compared with package.
C) their last scheduled day to collect, the automobile company offers its severance package to workers
>> Automobile company is compared with package.
D) their last scheduled day in order to collect, the automobile company's severance package is available to workers
>> The Best! "Workers' last scheduled day in order to collect" is very clear. Correct comparison
E) the last day that they are scheduled to collect, the automobile company's severance package is available to workers
>> I think the first part is wordy. "the last day that they are scheduled to collect"..."their last scheduled day" is good enough. This also sounds like "they are scheduled to collect the last day"

I too am for D. (But, I did not catch that "they" in E is ambiguous. I striked it off because it's wordy).

Going with D because it sounds better.
