The comparison is correct in each of the choices C,D,E...Why C then?

Its C for sure

D & E are wrong

D; Though we are comparing acid smoke with alkaline smoke, alkaline smoke is not cured on the contrary pipe tobacco is.

E: is all wrong dont bother looking at it also

It is the tobacco ofcourse....

Should be C

nlike cigarette tobacco, which yields an acid smoke, pipe tobacco, cured by age-old methods, yields an alkaline smoke

The text in RED can be eliminated so the comparision holds good
