Unlike the original National Museum of Science and Technology in Italy, where the models are encased in glass or operated only by staff members, the Virtual Leonardo Project, an online version of the museum, encourages visitors to “touch” each exhibit, which thereby activates the animated functions of the piece.
(A) exhibit, which thereby activates
(B) exhibit, in turn an activation of
(C) exhibit, and it will activate
(D) exhibit and thereby activate
(E) exhibit which, as a result, activates

I got the answer but was confused by OG explantion, OG says 'it' and 'which' in choices have NO ANTECEDENT whereas i thought 'it' and 'which' refer to wrong intecedent

Here activate/s is referring to functions which is plural, hence we need to use plural form of activate/s i.e. activate

The correct answer hinges on the word 'which.'

On the GMAT - and of course in proper English - it must always have a clear antecedent.

That is there is something preceding 'which' that 'which' clearly refers to.

Let's have a look at (A) exhibit, which thereby activates

Something is off here - according to the "touch rule" the exhibit is activating the functions. However,
we know it is the visitors who are activating the functions.

(D) provides us with the concise language:

The visitors both 'touch' and 'activate' the exhibit.

Hope that helps :)
