i would go for A because this is one of those cases where the neither is optional, i.e. it can be placed in to find the correct answer

'but, 'and', 'while' are not appropriate. Left with (A) and (C).

From the merriam-webster online dictionary,

nor: used as a function word to introduce and negate a following clause or phrase
neither: not either

Since we're not negating a following clause or phrase, I'll go with 'neither' and pick (C).

Hello, I think you neglect the later non-underlined sentence.

(A)nor do they endow him with divine qualities or immunity from failure in judgment

(C)neither do they endow him with divine qualities or immunity from failure in judgment

I think it's a little ambiguous, because the correct usage should be 'neither ...nor...'

I'll go with (A) as well.

Not X nor Y construct is a valid one.
