Ground rule: Compare like with like. So we need to compare either Japan and United States or Japanese Unions and US unions. So only choice B and C are our likely choices. However, C has an error. It does not have the parallel word "In". It would be correct if it was "In Japan, unlike in the United States". B does not have an error. Correct parallelism and correct comparison. Therefore, B.

IMO B (A) Unlike the United States, Japanese unions appear reluctant to organize Illogical comparison(B) Unlike those in the United States, Japanese unions appear reluctant to organize CORRECT ANSWER(C) In Japan, unlike the United States, unions appear reluctant to organize misses the "in" to compare similar things(D) Japanese unions, unlike the United States, appear reluctant to organize Illogical comparison(E) Japanese unions, unlike those in the United States, appear reluctant about organizing Illogical comparison

If option "B" was written in this way, this would have been more clear B. Unlike those in the United States, unions in Japan appear reluctant to organize Any how, I thought option B is wrongly modified so I chose E. But yes "B" is okk, btw what is worng in E. The comparison is ok in mhy opinion. Is reluctant about the only issue in E?

@Hussain......i also think that comparison is ok in E.....only problem was use of "reluctant about" in E so i choose B....i think "reluctant to" is the correct idiom
