I've thought about unsubscribing from all these b-schools that send me crap, but in a weird way it's kind of cool to see how badly some schools want me. I figure I can use as much confidence as I can get.

Yes, always feels good to be wanted. These schools want one thing and one thing only, to raise their gmat average. Here's a cautionary post.

It always raises red flags when a school doesn't post placement records.

Yeah, surely they are morale boosters! Especially some of the schools are quite highly ranked.

Everyone gets this junk emails from all kinds of schools from Ultra-elites to UOP. They randomly collect email addresses from GMAC, MBA Tour etc etc and bombard people with materials. I don't know how this makes one feel wanted. Do you feel impotent when you get the Viagra emails ?

He he! I like ur analogy and ur sense of humor!

I doubt they would be randomly sending emails. I would assume they do some profile match based on the survey that we fill during the GMAT. I agree that these surveys are very superficial, but atleast it shows that we are competitive based on the limited information that you provided.

Saying that these emails are also quite irritaing. A few weeks back, when I received an email from Harvard, my heart jumped thinking that it was an interview invitation.

<MY>,

I wanted to remind you that March 15th is our application deadline. This is our third deadline and at this point we still have fellowship dollars remaining for qualified applicants. The only way to find out if you are eligible is to apply!

<MY>, you've started the application, and now is a great time to finish it! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

I just got a post card from ND about the same thing. Apparently they're giving away an ipod at their next admissions chat to encourage people to apply for the 3/15 deadline.

The post card or the ipod offer? I can't believe they are resorting to Q-poning strategies!

That green ipod was hot. I actually checked my schedule, but I couldn't make it. I was also impressed by the shiny gold postcards. Pretty. Too bad they do absolutely jack in my field. To get my attention you at least have to do jill.

You guys made me don't wanna come to Notre Dame anymore!!! I was very touched when they sent me: 3 post cards, a number of letters, 3 magazines (Jungles), tons of documents, 1 DVD, and countless emails (all kinds, from the career center, housing to partners and kids club. It's good to know that my kids could play with other kids in the appartment. I should try my best to have one kid before going to Notre Dame)

Its cool that they sent you all that stuff. Its one of the things that left me disappointed after my admits.... I got a lot of really barren packages. GSB sent a letter, a deposit slip and a copy of the course catalog. Cornell sent a little booklet which, sadly, amounted to little more than stuff that was already on their webpage just printed out.
