I have no idea how they are getting this

LeeMay = .6*May
May = LeeMay + .4*May

June = 1.2*LeeMay + .4*May
June = 1.2*0.6*May + .4*May
June = .72*May + .4*May
June = 1.12*May

Lee as % of June total = .72*May / 1.12*May = .72/1.12 = 64%

Now this is the hight

I solved this ut i made one blunder

I had solved it like this
Let the total family income be 100 therefore Lees component is 60----this is for may

Now in the june month
It increases by 20% so it bcomes 72.
Now the mistake i did was i kept the total constant as 100 so i was getting 72%............which should have been made to 112..thanks. I hope i dont do this types of mistake on D day

Zoinnk is absolutely correct. This is a tricky question at first glance and my instinct is to go for the 72% as well. I guess the idea is that just her income is going up, not everyone else's.

Mrs Lee's income in May = m
Mrs Lee's income in June = M
Lee family's total income = T

In May,
m=0.6T

In June,
M=1.2m=1.2*0.6*T=0.72T

So 72%

2nd trial:
Mrs Lee's income in May = m
Mrs Lee's income in June = M
Lee family's total income in May = t
Lee family's total income in June = T

In May,
m=0.6t

In June,
M=1.2m=1.2*0.6*t=0.72t
T=t+0.2*0.6*t=1.12t

M/T=0.72/1.12=64%

This question is very tricky. First I calculated 0.72 as you did. (0.72M)/M

But, we the question is asking the following 0.72M/1.12M= 0.64
