Unusual application [#permalink]
10 May 2011, 00:18
Hello everybody!
I would not post in here if I could classify myself. I will give you a short and not to detailed briefing about my situation.
I came from a middleschool and started my apprenticeship right away. I finished this one as a salesman, but nothing spectacular. After that I worked for a big pharma company, a random job, nothing special. I did this job for about 4 years, then I had to quit to do my obligatory social year in Germany and spent there 9 month. During this time I decided to study. I went to Austria and finished my Bachelor in BA (exchange semester in Mexico), my average mark is about an 80%+ (or 1,8 German/Austrian) and I finished without honors. During this time I had a high profile internship in the pharma company, therefore I went to the headquaters based in Basel/Switzerland, I was even allowed to attend several Leadship-Team meetings, one of them in Spain/Madrid. Thereafter I travelled for 6 month through Asia, just to come home and do my GMAT.
From all my jobs I ever had I could obtain extremly good employers' references.
Age 27 Male German Englisch, German fluent Spanish more or less Started to "work" with 13 as a paperboy and since then always work whenever I could. TOEFL: 98 GMAT: 750
Helping my mother a lot with her social project for poor countries. Member of the local football team for 20 years. Extremly sportive (Mountainbiking in the Alps, Swimming, Football, Jogging, Wintersports,...) A lot of cultural expieriences (I have visited 32 countries in my life so far, quite some of them are 3rd world countries)
Since I want to apply for the MiM at the LBS and Masters of other high profile universities, I wanted to ask if I still fit in there. The average age is about 22-25, mostly people didnt work before and I sure don't fit the average.
I would be really thankful if somebody could help me to sort me into: Your CV is wierd - no chance! Or maybe this is more (what I think): Interesting way - some expirience in the classroom! Or maybe: Whatever - nobody cares about that!
Thank you very much in advance, sure I'll reply again!
Best regards

I'm 26 and did all my applications this year when I was 25.
After my undergrad, I spent a year abroad studying Chinese, then worked in China for a year, before spending the last year traveling. My GMAT is 680
I was rejected at LBS, and I feel that my age had something to do with it, even though I technically had less than a year of real work experience. However, I was accepted at LSE and Cass among others.
The good news that you will be accepted somewhere, but it may be more difficult than as a younger person.
