When you say that the question difficulty was similar to OG11, was that the last third (most difficult questions) of each section or representative of all the questions combined? Thanks

I don't get it, how do a lot of you guys get such high quant scores the first time you take an exam without ever studying? I mean Im not trying to be insulting and give you guys a lot of due, but it has taken me months just to get good at the first 100-150 questions on the OG. Did you guys learn this stuff in the past and its a matter of refreshing your memory?

I got my BS in electrical engineering.
Currently working towards completing my MS in Math.

although the GMAT Quant is more similar to grade school math than to the math i deal with now, my background helped a little i guess...

i would say that the difficulty of the quant section (as a whole) is similar to the last 1/2 of the OG.
however some of the questions on the exam were just so easy.

its a mix i guess..

Its not easy for everyone. When I started studying, I would get high 20s to low 30s on prep tests. After a couple of months i took the test, blew it, and got a 40. Another month of intense quant study, and my second try netted a 50 quant.

Congratulations Buddy

I can see that what took you from the 670 to 760 was the verbal portion of the test. Can you elaborate more on how you improved in the verbal section ? What was your reading strategy ?

How did the MGMAT books help you ? which ones specifically would you recommend ?

well i noticed that SC was my problem area, so i pretty much focused all my studying effort on trying to improve SC.
I used the manhattanGMAT SC, powerscore SC bible, OG11, and OG verbal
i created a log of questions, comments, and examples of SC problems that I found challenging or interesting.
Every time that i would study SC, i would re-read the log.
IMO the log was the greatest factor in improving my SC performance.

I really did not have to study the CR or RC questions.
IMO the RC is very straight forward. The answers to most RC questions are found (written explicitly) in the short passages. 90% of the RC questions do not require any kind of deductions to be made.

I didnt consciously create any type of reading stratagy.
I just read the passages at a comfortable pace and answered the questions, usually without having to look back at the passage.

The MGMAT books are great. i recommend all of them

congrats and good work! I think I'm in a similar boat with math. BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, so just reviewing all the questions where I made mistakes (and re-learning what an arithmetic progression is again =P) and learning those concepts is good enough for me.

Of course, everyone is different, so I would search the forums for others who have more similar strengths and weaknesses as you (fawree) and learn their study plans.

i actually came across my GMAT1 score report several weeks ago, and i noticed that the verbal score on my first gmat was lower than 37.
