Hello GMATCLUB Members,
We are bringing a webinar with Q&A as well as chats with current students focused on the Waitlisted Applicants. The first event of this series is Webinar conducted by Admissionado's Founder and HBS Alum Jon Frank. Jon will share his suggestions followed by a Q&A session. This is your opportunity to ask your specific questions. The webinar will take place on 31st January 2014, Friday, 9 AM PST.
We shall also be conducting chat sessions with some Current students from various schools who were successfully admitted from a waitlist so you can learn what to expect from the process, what worked for them, and what it takes. These chats shall take place in our Chat Room. We will release the times & Dates (all will be the first week of February)
I have read couple of comments about the adcom getting back to the wait listed students by the second week of May. However, I was curious to know if any one from this group heard back on a decision regarding admission, or any correspondence for that matter. Thanks in advance.
Waitlisted. My interview was good and I was really hoping to get admitted to Illinois MBA.
Illinois MBA is my first preference and I really want to convert myself from waitlisted to Admitted.
The question is to fellow waitlisted friends: What did you do after knowing that you are waitlisted? Any historical data on conversion ratio from waitlisted to admitted at Illinois MBA?
- The program is small, so data on waitlist conversion to admit is impossible to come by. I have been on the lookout for that data, but i haven't been able to find it. Suffice to say that the number of those admitted from the waitlist is relative small, now that the class is only 79 student strong. After observing/interacting with the adcom since the summer of 2012, my understanding is that a candidate is waitlisted not because a) the class is full, b) has a poor profile. Rather, the adcom waitlist candidates based on one factor: duplicate profile..., a person is wailisted because the adcom has already admitted another/other applicant(s) with the same profile. The most likely way for a waitlisted candidate to get admitted, largely dependent on whether the other admitted candidate (s) with the same profile have dropped out or not. To calculate your chances of getting in, do your own imaginary permutations on the likelihood of people like you dropping out, etc.
- The best way to increase your chances of getting in from the waitlist pool is to a) interact with the adcom, say by attending their events, etc, b) if you have a static you can improve, try to improve it.
Anyone get any updates on the waitlist? Any idea on the chances of an admit from WL?
The last official admission round is May 5. There should be movement on the waitlist pool after that day, but way before June 1st for international waitlisted candidates and July 31st for domestic applicants.
