A score such as yours shows very rudimentary knowledge of math and grammar/verbal. I'd say ditch the GMAT guides and focus on more basic information.
Start off with reading a book about basic grammar (our book here can fulfill that):gmat-grammar-book-96532.html
As for math, start off with basic algebra and work your way up. The Khan Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org/
) has a TON of free content for you to follow, learn and practice with (it has both math and verbal). After you feel you've gotten the bare basics down, THEN move to GMAT content and figure out how to boost you score.
