URGENT!!! EXAM IN A WEEK AND I NEED SOME CONSULTATION!! THNX [#permalink] New post 09 Mar 2012, 11:37
Hello everyone,

I am about to take my GMAT after a week. I have been taking tests for over some time now.

Recently, i scored Q (40-44) and V (28-33) in 3 MGMAT's and around Q (43) again in MGMAT (Only Q attempted, taken twice).

I scored a Q (43) in Princeton and didn't attempt V. (To my surprise the no of right's were more than MGMAT's Q section, is MGMAT tougher?)

:|
When i took GMAT Prep, i scored Q (30), which was very less  coz for me, my quants in stronger. I didn't attempt verbal though and i have been a bit low!! :(

I want to improve my V to 38 and i know i can do it in a week time with proper guidance. Also, i want my increase my Q score to 45. I have only a week more i am reviewing all the wrong ans from MGMAT.

Can you please suggest me the stuff that i can practice for 'V' and 'Q'? Also could you tell me how much should i expect with the upcoming results.

I know i can make changes in my score immensely within a week, just need your guidance!! :)

THANKS A LOT GUYS FOR YOUR TIME!! :!:

You need to write complete tests, especially GMATPrep, with actual exam conditions (i.e. no pausing and taking only the allotted amount of time for breaks - 8 min between AWA and Quant, and another 8 min between Q and verbal).

I am afraid if you actually run through a complete test, you may see your score lower even more, given that you have cited more instances of just doing Q and not the entire exam.

Do look at OG problems, especially 1 week before the test. I would stick with OG and GMATprep. This is not the time to be brushing up concepts (which by now you either know or not). Do OG questions - timed. And do a full GMATprep tests. One immediately and the second a day or two before your actual GMAT.

Only once you mimicked actual test conditions can you begin to analyze your performance and address your weakness.

I'm not familiar with the MGMAT practice test - except that the OG one is considered most accurate.

To improve your verbal - there are many things you can do. Go through answers to questions you got wrong - reanswer them as you would starting the question from scratch - visualizing mentally that you are seeing it for the first time. Visualize and rerun your thinking process to improve your speed and efficiency. Create a framework for that type of question and be able to spot it within seconds upon seeing it again in a different question.

Repeat and repeat. Learn the framework and attack strategy for:

- reading comprehension - http://www.gmatpill.com/practice-questi ... -guide-rc/
- critical reasoning - http://www.gmatpill.com/the-gmat-pill-m ... customers/

Then apply your new thinking process and you might notice a change in your approach and ultimately your score.
