Hi all,

I started studying for the GMAT about 6 weeks ago. I am using Manhattan GMAT guides and the official GMAC guide. I have only invested about 6-8 hours a week only. I am doing really bad in the practice exams. I took the 1st practice test when I had no clue about what GMAT was about and I scored 410 only. Now, after 6 weeks of studying (6-8 hrs a week) I only got an improvement of 10 points. My test is on December 22nd and my goal is to get 650. Below you will find my results from both the 1st test and the latest test. Please keep in mind that I had no clue about the GMAT until I started studying. I took the practice test without knowing anything and scored 410 and after 6 weeks I only managed 420 on the 2nd practice test.

The number next to the Quant, Verbal, and Total is the "Score" and the percentage is the "Estimated Percentile"

1st exam:

Quant 25 14%

Verbal 22 28%

Total 410 14%

2nd exam:

Quant 27 18%

Verbal 23 30%

Total 420 15%

Dear Sam,

I can see you need some improvement. First of all, let me suggest a 1 month study schedule
http://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/1-month-gm ... -schedule/
You have already done some of this already, so you can power through some of it, and even add some extra material from the three-month plans (you will see links to them on the side bar.)

I think Magoosh can help you quite a bit. First of all, please take full advantage of our free blog. Here are a couple of articles you may find helpful:

Here's a free GMAT ebook you may find helpful:

If you decide to purchase Magoosh, first of all, you will get GMAT prep every bit as good as MGMAT for a fraction of the price. We have 250+ video lessons covering all the content and strategy you need. Here's a sample math question:
http://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/872
Here's a sample SC question:
http://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/1102
For each of those, when you submit your answer, the following page will have a full video explanation. Each one of our 800+ GMAT practice questions has its own video explanation, for accelerated learning.
We also provide 24/7 email help, in which we will explain any of our question, any OG questions, and any questions about strategy, etc.

I hope all this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Mike
