Urgent Help Needed - Please [#permalink] New post 09 Jun 2003, 11:27
Hi Guys,

Its my first time posting. I took the gmat on saturday and ended up with a miserable 500!! m-26 v - 32

For over a month, I used to official gmat guide questions book as well as preped with the cd's from ets and princeton review.

I'm ok in the verbal (would like to improve of course) but math is killing me for some reason. I just can't seem to get a handle on the data sufficiency - especially for the yes/no questions. The problem solving isn't too difficult, it only takes me too much time to get an answer.

I lost so much time doing the first few questions, I had to guess the last few just to finish the exam.

I plan on taking the test again in a month or so. Can anyone suggest some study material or even a strategy. I'm desperate.

Thanks in advance for you help.

I had the same experience as you last year.
I practiced for a month and got a 500, then after some time I managed to improve to 580. It still sucks, but at least it was something.

I think you will need more than a month to prepare and imporve your score. I think a 3 month period is more suitable for this kind of exam. I do not know your target, but take it slowly and practice a lot.

To prepare for Math, try to do Kaplan and review posts on the forums. Normal books are very old and do not have actual excersices.

For verbal, try Princeton verbal workbook or Kaplan┬┤s.

I hope this helps

I can suggest to buy some Kaplan books

Kaplan is harder than the OG and the gmat itself, so you can have a good practice with their workbook and the CD.
