Urgent! Need advise on timing. [#permalink] New post 11 Feb 2004, 05:50
Could someone pls help me. Test is tomorrow. I need advise on how to deal with timing.
In my opinion I have my definite level of Math and Verbal which I can hardly to rise by tomorrow. I can not handle with difficult questions. I need not score 700. For me 600 is sufficient. With good timing I think I can manage to score the level which I deserve.
I think this is the key thing for me now.
Problem in that in previous tests in math section I tried to spend for first 10 questions as much time as necessary to solve them. Usually it took about 35-40 minutes. Usually on 9th or 10th question I receive probability or permutations question, by solving which I think I can significantly upward my score. Than I slightly speed up and spend to next 10 questions about 30 minutes and I usually found myself with about 20 minutes for rest 17 questions and I begin to guess and on last 5-6 questions I just chose answers randomly.
Almost the same problem with verbal. I spend to much time to RC.

This time I want to use following strategy to spend to first 10 questions again necessary time.
And to the rest questions allot a time more evenly . For the last 5 to try to make guess.
As for the verbal, again to spend to first 10 questions 30-35 minutes. To try to handle first 2 RC but for the next 2 RC donтАЩt read them ( which I think will greatly save time for me for the other questions) and try to guess. For the rest 5 make a guess.

Could someone pls advise me whether my strategy is right or not. Where you think my approach is not good. Thank you in advance.

When I took the test I spent too much time may be around five minutes on 3rd question alone. I feel I should have just made a educated guess and proceeded. Like the way you are saying if you spread your time and finish it on time that should surely get you at 600+.
