Two ways to overcome a lower GPA are to:
1.) Get a great GMAT score.
2.) Go into your MBA applications with a strong resume.
Generally, the further out you are when applying to bschool, the less your GPA will matter. 5 years is about the average wait for most applicant right now. However, if you perform well within your job, and display some very important leadership, your GPA will not close the doors to a top 10 MBA program. (Another consideration is that GPA is relative to the level of competition within your college and within your major, so that will be taken into consideration as well by admissions.)
