UT-Austin calculating your GPA based on upper-level classes [#permalink]
03 Mar 2010, 15:40
So I was reading on UT-Austin's website that the GPA that they use to evaluate you is based on your upper-level classes (junior and senior year). This is a relief to me as during my first year I made my only F ever in a computer science for engineers course at Georgia Tech. Anyone else glad about this?

This really works for me too, as my freshman year was rough for me. It took me a while to adjust to college life and get into my "groove" for studying. My junior and senior years, however, have been great so far, with my lowest grade being 1 B+. Hopefully it gives me the competitive edge I need for UT.

When they say they calculate based on upper-level courses, what exactly do they mean? At my university, freshman level classes are 1000s, sophomore 2000s, junior 3000s, senior 4000s. So would they just look at my 3000/4000 level classes? Or do they just look at it based on when you took the classes, ie the classes you took your junior and senior years? I ask because I still have a few of my gened 1000/2000 level classes to knock out during senior year...but I feel like they wouldn't count those.
