Essays 1. Explain your short-term and long-term career plans as specifically as possible. When combined with your studies at Owen, how will your background, previous experiences, interests and personal attributes enable you to pursue these goals successfully? (500 words maximum) 2. In what ways would you impact Owen as a student and as an alumnus/alumna? How would you create change within the Owen community? (Not required for Accelerator, MMHC and EMBA applicants) (500 words maximum) 3. Optional question: You are strongly encouraged to provide an additional statement to clarify and explain any of the following: gaps of more than three months in full-time employment, lack of recommendation from your current or most recent supervisor, limited full-time work experience (ignore if you are a recent undergraduate), poor academic performance, weak test scores, academic misconduct, violations of the law, or anything else you think is important for the Admissions Committee to know about you that is not already addressed elsewhere in your application. Applicants reactivating a previous application submitted within the last two years should provide their additional statement here. (500 words maximum)

Congratulations! On behalf of Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, we are delighted to offer you admission to the MBA program beginning in fall 2013. A letter and welcome binder will be mailed to you with full details regarding your offer of admission.
Did anyone else hear anything back? I can't wait for next year to come!

Did anyone go to Discover Weekend? How was it?
Wanted to attend, but did go to Vanderbilt for undergrad and loved every second of it so much so to already desire a second Vandy education at the Owen School!
Discover Weekend was great! The owen culture and community really showed through in the presentations and with the students/staff there. FV113, are you matriculating to Owen?

Here's my theory, regarding the GMAT score condition: Vanderbilt was supposed to release the decision by the deadline March 8th. Just then the ranking went down by 5 places (source US News ranking). They must have made a last minute decision to not release admission decisions for some of the applications with GMAT scores that might keep Vanderbilt's average down. Not that I blame them but it was hard to understand why there was no communication by the decision deadline. Thoughts?
I think that's reading too far into it. If I am not mistaken, the rankings are based on the class of 2014, which I understand to be a pretty competitive class. It was commucated to me that this years applicants are also highly competitive. I can't image that they do not have enough applicants with high enough scores that they cannot balance it all out to their target. I would just give them and ask for them to clarify.

Just to clarify; I'm not begrudging Vanderbilt's conditional offer. It's the fact that it wasn't presented professionally or by the admissions release deadline on March 8th. They could have easily denied or waitlisted me, but did extend this conditional offer, which is great. However, I just feel like this was presented awkwardly. Why wait for a week? Just let me know if there is an issue.

Wish I could... Work gets really busy this time of the year.
Believe me, I know the feeling. Luckily for me, I'm only a few hours down the road, so it's not too hard on my schedule (can't say the same about my gas tank though).

Anyone going to the November Discover Weekend? I went two years ago when I was first considering applying and am debating going again...
How was it? I'm attending and doing my interview during that period. I love VUMC and Nashville, but am interested to learn more about Owen. I really like that it's all graduate students, not to sound like a snob.
