Shamelessly taken from various forums I have been browsing.......please vent about your b-school app here!
I am currently waiting on interview invites from Stanford, MIT Sloan and HBS (yes I know I am delusional). I currently find myself unable to concentrate at work and refreshing Gmail on my iphone every 10 minutes. My iphone battery tends to run out by mid-afternoon.......
Its funny how you think the GMAT is the most difficult part of the app, then once that is done, you realise the essays are the hardest part. Now I can definitively say that waiting is the hardest part of the process!
I'm in favor of AdCom releasing all the decisions (invites, acceptance) on 1 day, to cut down on the misery. Unless of course you get waitlisted, then the pain goes on.

In conclusion, AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
Tell me I'm rejected after reading my application and/or not getting an interview invite. Come on!
I'm in the middle of both writing essays AND waiting...I made the final decision to apply to bschool this year on the late side, so I am only applying R2 to schools (with the exception of Stern whose R1 was last week). So I submitted Stern already and am working away on the other schools all due in Jan, but I am nervous/excited about hearing whether the Stern application is viewed as complete, thinking about whether I might get an interview invite before Christmas etc.
Of the schools I'm applying to, Stern is probably the most likely for me to get into, but I am also really nervous because I would be very happy there...Eek!!
Definitely glad I joined GMATClub though--good to have a place to vent/commiserate.
Worst part for me is the what if's (particularly while waiting).
What if I had picked version X instead of version Y for that essay?
Should I have answered this interview question differently?
Should I have applied to a different school instead of this one?
It's hard to put out of mind while you're waiting... The worst part is any feedback would be good - so you know what to do for the schools you're still mulling about/working on...
Chuckle, pulled out all my essays and found tiny tiny errors from the billions of edits. None ruined the readability, but even a single grammar error is frustrating - left over from a tense change, then a rework, then overlooked by both myself and two peer reviewers. There were more, too.
Eh, can't control what you can't control. I think I'm having chicken curry tonight!

After working my ass off for 15 hours a day (including weekends), I write essays which I cant stand..I have broken my laptop's F5 key just to see an interview invite from my safety school which i thought was a slam dunk..My wife is pissed off on me for not remembering her bday...I hit my car to a safety guard while coming back from a school visit..
And folks say you are suppose to enjoy this experience ?

Oh man - no, not supposed to be enjoyable, but rather educational. Just think how much you have learned!

I am jealous of law school applicants. They sometimes hear back (accept or reject) within 1 week of submitting their applications.
Also, they submit ONE essay called the personal statement to all schools. No need to tweak it for each one. and they all accept generic recommendations and your recommenders only submit one letter to the online system which sends it to every school you want to apply at.
so basically, the marginal cost of an additional application is almost 0 aside from the app fee .
B-schools should take a hint from some of the other professional grad programs!

Except, according to a friend of mine to whom I was complaining about the price of business school apps, that apparently they have to pay to join some law school admissions council or organization which she said costs (I might be wrong about this) $1000 or so...So in that way, they at least have to pay a lot like we do But the apps do seem a TON easier and the marginal cost of additional apps is still almost 0.
