Verbal doubts in case of a retake [#permalink] New post 12 Jun 2009, 01:43
Hi,

I wrote my GMAT last month and got a score of 610 (Q 46,V 28). I plan to write it again.
The problem is that I remember the answers from last time's verbal material, including the verbal sets(1-20).I have the required books (powerscore CR bible and Manhattan SC guide)

Could anyone tell me which CATs would most closely imitate the verbal section.I plan to buy the MGMAT CATs and GMAT club tests.Would they suffice for verbal? or do I need to focus on other material ?

This time my aim is to cross 700 and want to imrove a lot in verbal

If you want Verbal improvement MGMAT CATs won't help you much. Besides GMAT Club Tests you can buy Paper tests - they are great resource for Verbal practice. On the other hand, GMATPrep is by far the best material and you don't even have to spend your money on it - just download it from http://www.mba.com

The questions on the MGMAT CATs are not representative of the real exam - this is true for both quant and verbal. They can still be good practice, but nothing beats GMATPrep for accuracy.

Unfortunately, the GMATClub Verbal tests are not nearly as good at their Quant counterparts. I think Verbal practice questions are just harder to develop :(

I haven't done any of the retired paper tests yet, but those might be your best bet for getting a good amount of practice with real GMAT questions.

Work on RC via reading trade mags, Economist, editorial page. pretend you will be tested on the material after and try to bank relevant facts, etc.

Plus remember, you are somewhat burnt out by Verbal so you need to work on stamina. Good luck.

My sincere thanks to everybody who took time out to answer the post.

I wanted to clarify a doubt though...do the paper tests mentioned in the post are the same as the ETS pdfs?

Thanks again
