I just took GMAT PREP Test #1 ( I had taken it along time ago, forgotten all questions).
I got a 48 and 38.

However, on verbal, I got all 14 RC questions correct, all of which came in the first 28 questions. In fact I missed only 4 total questions in the first 28. Then the last 13 questions, I missed 10 questions, having to guess on last two. Reason being, I saw time and rushed.

I think I can see a dramatic improvement in my score if I just get timing down a bit better. Suggestions here?

The key to do well on GMAT verbal is shooting down SC's in less than a minute. Believe if you have done lot of practice on SC, then you will complete SC in less than a minute. By solving all SC in less than a minute and not loosing time on CRs you will get bit extra time for RC's.
I hope this should work well to get the overall timing right.
