Verbal strategy - Need advice from verbal gurus ! [#permalink] New post 03 Oct 2010, 11:42
Gurus please help me with my verbal strategy!

Do you consider a good approach if I will concentrate solely on RC one week, CR one week, and on SC one week.
I will do one week only SC for example drilling all tough questions from all possible sourses.
After 3 weeks, next 1 week I will practise only verbal sets all together, doing 2-3 sets per day + will analyse all of my wrong answers.

I took the GMAT once and scored poor on Verbal. I know concepts , but waant just to do more and more practice on verbal.

Do you find this strategy viable?

thank you.

I hope you are planning to keep practicing quant as well. It is important to maintain current level on quant while improving in verbal.

I am by no means an expert on verbal, but still the idea of studying just SC one week and just RC another doesnt seem right to me. An integral part of the test is to learn to quickly switch between different kinds of questions.
I used to batches of 20-30 questions of each time alternatively, and found that fairly effective for myself

I would definitely not recommend this strategy as Verbal is one section where constant exposure and contact with the material is absolutely indispensable, at least in my opinion. I would suggest focusing on, say, CR the first week to learn the concepts. Then start doing about 5 problems a day while studying for SC strategy the next week, and then do 5 problems each from SC and CR everyday while studying for RC. And once you're done with all three, then you can do say 10 problems from each until you run out of problems and then you can start working on random problems in no particular order.
