I am not a new person in the club but I have been an active member

(only by viewing the posts). Sorry for the lenthy post but felt i need

some suggesstions from you brilliant people in the club.

I am an Indian working professional. I have a PGDBM(MBA equivalent in

India) and looking to pursue MS finance from US universities for fall

2008.

I have scheduled GMAT in the second week of September(now feeling its

pretty early) looking to reschedule and extend another 2 months. I will

be satisfied with score of atlest 650.

currently I have the following materials:

OG11
Barrons GMAT
1000 series
CATs: Power prep, Gmat prep and crack gmat.

I am not in a position to spend on some more materials as I am having

lots of financial commitments(Sorry but this is a constraint).

I recently took online PRCAT to check my standing without preparation

but able to score 34Q and 9V(neglected and answered blindly).
I am confident as to improving my quant score but my greatest sickness

is in Verbal as english not a native language. I am able to get only 40

to 50% of the questions correct during my practice of 2-3 hrs a day and

6-8 hrs on weekends. I believe I am going somewhere wrong after

understanding the question.

Please help me with the following:

Some simple tips to improve verbal( CR>sc>RC).

Wat can be the ideal score to pursue MS finance from top university as

my GPA is a bit stronger of 3.7 - 3.8.

Where do I find exlplanations for answers of 1000 series.

Let me know for any more info.

Check out nervous's post, it's really detailed. Here are my two cents: CR, practice ID conclusion and evidence for each Q...makes it easy to ID assumptions. This helps with strengthen/weaken Qs as well. For inference Qs, remember the correct answer must be true based on the information provided. Avoid ACs that stray away from what is explicitly written. SC: Check out MGMAT SC Guide, it really helped me out. Also, there is a list of brutal SCs floating around on these forums...use them to see some of the hardes Qs out there. I don't know what I can say about RC...I'm a native English speaker so I didn't bother prepping for this part of the test. Some of my friends have found that making a passage map helpful, others use the Qs themselves to guide where they have to look. G'luck!
