Hey all,
I took my GMAT last month and was a little disappointed (650) but I wanted to get this forum's take on my experience to see if it will help me or hurt me.
By the time I apply for an MBA program, I will have at least 2 years of Federal government work experience. In that time, I have worked directly for a Presidential appointee in a Federal Agency, and I have also been an energy and environment fellow for a U.S. Senator. My focus for my MBA would be on renewable energy marketing and entrepreneurship.
I also have a 3.82 GPA from American University in Washington, D.C. I will be 24 yrs old when I apply to b-school.
I may retake the exam, but looking at my score, gpa, and experience, do you think that my Federal experience will help or hurt me if I want to get into some top schools (Cornell, right now, is my dream school).
Any thoughts would be super helpful and appreciated! Thanks!
Probably not the answer you want but what's done is done. You can't change that part of your work experience so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Apply to Cornell if it is your dream school and see what happens.
The only thing you mentioned is who you work for and not what you do. If you are helping them make decisions then great, but if you are getting them coffee all day or cleaning their toilets well then not so good. You have to be more specific about your role.
