Which school? (EMBA vs. Online MBA) [#permalink] New post 11 Jan 2013, 10:34
I have applied to three schools to get my MBA, Executive and Online programs. (Full-time is not an option for me right now; I want to keep working!) I have a quality undergraduate degree from a top school with a great reputation. I want a degree that will take me places in marketing and open up opportunities globally.

Career Aspirations: Brand Management, Marketing, International Assignment

Schools Applied to:

Vanderbilt Executive MBA (Americas Program)
-most expensive
-concern that the networking is lessened
-lack of electives
-potential for most "brand" recognition
-international travel/emerging market experience with Americas Program
-(minor) give up two weekends a month to classes with no make-up opportunities

Indiana's Kelley Direct Online MBA
-lower cost
-reputation for marketing, full-time professors teaching
-lots of electives
-international case study/emerging market opportunity
-flexible timeline (not lock-step)
-pioneered the online MBA

Arizona State's Online MBA
-lower cost
-lots of electives
-less flexible lock-step program

Moving to a better spot for your question.
P.S. it seems that Vanderbilt EMBA is the only non-only program in your list. There is a stigma that a few schools are trying to break (UNC@MBA) about online schools. That would be my biggest concern along with ability to stay on top of it with online and not having much in-person interaction (pardon me, I am not aware of the level of in-person classroom time).

Vanderbilt EMBA presents the most interesting opportunities in terms of interacting with your classmates and building long term relationships.

P.S. have you considered other EMBA's? They are not super tough to get into and probably not that much more expensive than Venderbilt.
