I'm a new engineering grad - should I take GMAT now? [#permalink] New post 29 Jun 2005, 12:29
Hi all,

I've been researching on taking the GMAT and I ran across this nice forum. :) I've recently graduated with a bachelor's degree from Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, and just landed a software development position at an IT consulting company. I've always wanted to pursue an MBA in the near future to complement my technical background.

So the dilemma is, whether I should take the GMAT now? I realize that most universities only count GMAT scores up to 5 years old, but I've also read that the average age of MBA students is 28. I'm 24 right now, so 28 is only 4 years away; and after 4 years of solid work experience I'll probably be in a good position, career-wise, for this transition into an MBA. Another reason is because I feel most "academically ready" at this point, having just finished school, so I'm confident of getting a good GMAT score.

So I'm just wondering whether anyone has similar experiences or have been in a similar position? Is it common for students to take their GMATs right out of their bachelor's degree? Is there any down-side to it?

Any help would be appreciated!

120% agree with DLMD, I am 30 yo and even if I was a test cracker when I was younger I do not feel like preparing hard any more.
Shoot as soon as you can !
