MS Finance as preparation for Finance PhD?

MS Finance as preparation for Finance PhD? [#permalink] New post 14 Jul 2008, 00:38
Hi to all,

I took up Industrial Engineering during college (graduated in 2004), and now I want to work in the academia in the field of Finance. I have a dilemma, though. My grades were just average during college, and I have limited background in Finance. So, I deemed it necessary to take up an MS Finance and do well in order for me to have a good shot at a Finance PhD in the US. :)

Since I prefer to take up my PhD in the US, what would be more of an advantage, to take a non-thesis MS Finance in the US or a thesis-based MS Finance program elsewhere (Europe / Asia)?
