Visa status & funding details [#permalink] New post 26 Oct 2009, 20:33
Terry/ Anybody!!

Need to know on my visa status - I'm from India but right now in USA on work permit. I came to USA on F1 for MS and then converted to H1 and am working. Now if I am to get back to studing MBA, I believe, I need to convert back to F1 -so shud I still prove my funding capabilities to receive the visa? For my initial F1, I had to prove my ability to come, live in US and support my entire course fee. Now that I am in US, what amount balance (GSB website shows entire expense to be $91k) should I maintain to get the F1 visa from GSB? Does GSB guarantee any kind of financial assistance to all admitted candidates?
How practical is it to assume completing the program with minimal personal funds and depend on GSB funding possibilities for major portion of the tuition?

Thanks,
R

you will get conditional admission until the status gets change to F1. Till that time you cannot do on campus job and the total process takes 2- 3 months depending on your state . I think so Vermont is fastest of them.

yes you will have to show total expenses that are on ur i20 its the same that you did when you have applied for ur MS> ..

Thanks Pitt. So, what are the possibilities of GSB granting funds on I20? How are the recent GSB trends on issuing aid before the actual classwork itself?
