Vote for Noble Prize in Economics for the year 2008!!! [#permalink]
08 Oct 2008, 10:14
This time the prize should go to finance area and my altime favorites are Gene Fama and Micheal Jensen. Another candidate could be K.R. French or Stefan Ross or Richard Roll. It has been long due for Prof. FAMA, who should have given well before 2005. I vote for Gene Fama, Micheal Jensen and one from the list above.. http://www.marginalrevolution.com/margi ... -133916437http://mostlyeconomics.wordpress.com/20 ... mment-3690http://scientific.thomsonreuters.com/nobel/laureates/

I hope they'll give it to Thads Bentulan, the creator of Hyperwage Theory which is supposedly applicable to Third World countries as a practical way to improve on their poverty situation. But since the Nobel are Western-centric, I doubt if Bentulan will be recognized that soon for his very brilliant analysis of why African and Asian countries are poor and how to address it.

Wow ! Over the head stuff for me. GMAT Tiger, can you suggest some good place to start learning basic economics. I'd prefer economical ( read:free) stuff to start with but don't refrain from suggesting some really good stuff even if it comes for a cost. Thanks, I appreciate your help.

I am in finance and also lack knowledge about economics. If you are intrested about finance, I can suggest some.

I definitely have interest in Finance (Aren't Finance and Economics interconnected??). But sadly, no background. So I would be glad to get your suggestions

Thanks GT! Is there a way to vote on the site or do we just vote here on the forum pages?

Is there a way to vote on the site or do we just vote here on the forum pages? This is only for our forum purpose. The real process starts with the nominations. The nomination forms are sent to some selected people, mainly university professors and scholers. They submit their nominations for either 1 or 2 or 3 people to the Noble comittee. Based on the nomination recomendations, the Nobel Committee recommends the final candidates.
