Waitlist at Kellogg [#permalink] New post 19 Dec 2013, 07:39
I was waitlisted at Kellogg and was hoping for any insight/tips on the process and likelihood of getting off the waitlist. Kellogg is the only school I applied to for a variety of reasons. My GMAT score is: Overall-700- Quant: 43/64th percentile and Verbal: 42/95th percentile and I have a 3.86 GPA (major: psychology and sociology). I know I have a low quant score and I lack a math/business background (I took one stats class in college and econ at a local community college but no other business or math classes). Nonetheless, I'm passionate about Chicago and social entrepreneurship. I have worked for a nonprofit for the past four years and currently oversee development and strategy. Prior to that I was a teacher through Teach for America. I am on the Board of Directors for a nonprofit as well. I have had attended a few fellowship focused on leadership development. However, my direct business experience is limited to real estate- I manage a couple apartments in a small building and as a Starting Bloc Fellow. I was contemplating taking a finance or accounting class but I am wondering what other suggestions you might have to help improve my chances of getting off the waitlist? Do you have any idea what percentage of applicants actually get accepted from the waitlist? Thanks so much!

Hi Kacy,

Usually, some techniques can help you get off the waitlist like sending an additional recommendation or writing a letter of your interest and commitment to Kellog. Taking any additional classes will also be considered a positive step towards sending a message of your interest in pursuing an MBA. Percentage of applicants getting off the waitlist varies from year to year, so we can only guess on the stats.

Feel free to write if you have any further queries.

Cheers!
