Waitlist Struggle [#permalink] New post 15 Mar 2013, 12:21
I'm in need of some advice

I was waitlisted at Ross w/o interview in round 1. I sent an initial update stating that I have enrolled in a Calc class to supplement my weak quantitative transcript (non-business undergrad.) I now have the chance to update again, and I'm considering retaking the GMAT in hopes of getting a higher score. I would have to do this before Apr 12. My original score is a 700 (Q46 V40.) Is it worth doing, considering the limited amount of time, and the fact that I'd now be up against round 3 competition as well as the rest of the waitlist?

I've also already been admitted to USC with a substantial scholarship. I'm looking to go into hospitality/tourism consulting, and USC has fairly good connections in that portion of the industry, but I know that Ross places better in consulting overall.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I don't think you should retake the GMAT. For Ross a 700 is more than sufficient, and if you haven't gotten in it might be because of weaknesses in other areas, which if you can invest your time in working on THOSE and making some improvement there, I feel it may be more valuable for you.
