Wake Forest (Babcock)

does the e-ship program at Wake forest match that of other prominent e-ship b-schools..what is the strenght of WF in terms of its programs.

hey hjort..what are the strengths of Wake forest..also are they strict about their work ex criteria..do they admit students with 0-2 years of work ex as easily as say Anderson or Tepper ?

I went to Wake Undergrad- it's a beautiful school and I think they are really trying to make themselves top notch in terms of entrepreunership and even banking- since they are so close to Charlotte which is quickly becoming the center of retail banking (and a lot of trading floors are beginning to pop up there as well)

For entrepreneurship- I know they just built this incubation center which is supposed to be top notch.

I must warn however, that it topped the REGIONAL schools list. If you want to live in Raleigh or Charlotte, it will be easy to get a great job coming out of there. If you want to live in NYC or elsewhere- I bet recruiting will require more efforts on your part.

One final note- I know in the undergrad school there is a serious grade Deflation problem. THey are trying to become Duke or Princeton and think this can be accomplished by making you work your butt off and still giving you lower grades. However, in the end this only ends up hurting students like me who end up with low GPAs that they have to attempt to explain away. Have no idea if this applies to the Grad schools though

Oh, and don't forget about Maya Angelou!!!!

I concur with Jennif102's comment about this being a regional school. Virtually all schools at the NEF level will be regional or local - it is good to keep this in mind.

Many undergrad schools have tried the "we are hard graders- graduate schools will appreciate this" approach. It sounds good in theory but can be hard on alumni- especially in the transition years when observers might not realize that a shift in grades has taken place at that institution.

Anyone applying to Wake for 2007?

Don't know why Wake does not require essay in application packet...I feel a little awkward about that...

I think you're mistaken. Wake has two required essays and one optional.

2007 Wall Street Journal polled MBA recruiters, and Wake Forest placed 2nd on the list. And Wake students LOVE their school. Well that is enough for me. If recruiters rate Wake high and the students love it...then its for me.

I was accepted yesterday with a 730GMAT and a 2.6 gpa. Also, I have about 8 years work experience.

My money is that this program is more than near frontier elite. What a crock.
