I have a strong upward trend in my GPA in addition to a higher course load. I finished my last semester with a 3.54 and 20 hours. 5 years of work experience mostly concentrated in operations with the last few in consulting.

I'm wanting to get my best shot at Carnegie Mellon or Georgetown. Do I need to retake the GMAT and apply for round 2? Or am I good now?

With a strong application, I think you would be considered a strong applicant at these two schools. Also, I have a feeling that you might be under-selling yourself a bit and would also look at a few other schools -- UVA, Duke, Cornell, Ross, UCLA. I encourage you to expand your horizons a bit and add a few more competitie schools to your list. While applying to a few more schools is going to be a bit more work, I think it would be worth your time, effort, energy and money.
