Dinged...
28 yo HCM re-applicant 730GMAT, 3.0 GPA UG. Alternative transcript all As, with a CFA level 1 completed. 5 years of Work experience since MS in Biomedical engineering. Academics were the clear weakness in my profile.
Working in a Fortune 500 Medical device company in Corp. Development. After 2 years of Engineering/Regulatory/Clinical experience. Got the Recommendation letter from the General Manager of my $1B Division. Met with faculty, the program director and other students. and most of all, was a reapplicant. Felt i did as much as I possibly could since my last application, including a new role in my company - where all my colleagues are Post MBAs from HBS and Wharton.
Definitely upsetting. But oh well, LIFE GOES ON!

Dinged.
I was expecting this after the Booth decision last week.
Profile
GMAT: 720(Q 49, V 40) WE: 7 years in commercial banking with the largest foreign bank in Pakistan. Team management experience of more than 3 years as floor and branch manager at the flagship branch of the bank. 4 promotions and few awards along the way. In the last one year, I have worked as a coach on a successful sales culture transformation project for the bank. UG GPA: 82.7/100, top 3 engineering universities in Pakistan Voluntary experience: Voluntary experience of almost 100 hours in each of the last 3 years
I worked with a consultant from a top admissions consultancy company on 6 schools. Wharton and Booth were two of them, still to hear from Tuck and Yale.
Maybe my commercial banking experience, undergrad from one a Pakistani university, 4 GMAT attempts (650, 640, 680, 720) are a turn off for the schools, who knows. It is certainly demotivating and heart breaking.

Don't sweat the small stuff guys, things could be a lot worse! We made the effort and I don't know about you but I for sure discovered a lot of things about myself that I had not given much thought about before applying. There are other schools and not getting an MBA from here is not the end of the world. (We are all alive and kickin'. What's more to ask?)
Congrats to those who did get through to the next step, goodluck! "(We are all alive and kickin'. What's more to ask?) " true words buddy, thats the most important

Wooooooooooooooo got the ding. Can't do anything but laugh. MD from Penn and two stellar recs from the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. Maybe my best set of essays. And I'm Native, so I'm used to the white man guilt going in my favour even without the other credentials. Kidding, of course. Just have to laugh it off and move on. God wants me elsewhere. Hope you folks can do the same and get into some stellar programs. Plenty of talented folks out there, and like someone said, with the volume they (HSW) get, it's a crapshoot.

Sorry to hear of all the dings today! This is only the beginning of the journey, though, and we'll all end up somewhere that's a good fit for us. Best of luck everyone; keep your heads up!!

For those of you lucky enough to still be in the game for R1 and for any prospective applicants for R2, R3, or later years -- I have updated the first post with the link to the Wharton Admissions blogs and the Current Student blogs. Enjoy!

Sorry to hear about all the dings folks. I am a re-applicant from 2-years ago (was waitlisted through the entire summer at Wharton) and ultimately didn't get into any of the schools I applied to, so I know how it feels. This time around I've fared much better and have interviews at both Wharton + Booth, so there is hope!
For those of you who have had your Wharton interviews, can you please comment on the structure of the group interview? I have received the prompts, but I'm wondering if the adcoms basically say "ready-set-GO!" or if they facilitate the entire conversation. Not sure what to expect at this point! Thanks.

Hi - I'm based in Europe and just received an invitation after COB Friday to participate in a team-based discussion. Problem is, the only sessions in Europe are next week in London and they are all full. I'm working full time and it's simply not feasible for me to travel to the US campus (which is where most remaining sessions are) before the 30th. Is anyone in the same boat - and do you know whether they have any alternative options? I sent an email to admissions explaining my situation and they simply responded saying the strongly recommend that I sign up to one of the available slots. Doesn't really seem very promising, but if there are others in the same position in Europe, perhaps they'd be willing to organize an additional session.

hey guys, is everyone doing the campus visit when they go to Wharton for the interview? Would it reflect poorly if we didn't?

Well I guess that makes the 5th time now in 7-8 months that I've been dinged-doesn't sting so much when you're used to it. Good lord, I must be the exact candidate that all of the admissions consultants write about...rejected despite the GMAT score.

You and me both... though I guess for me the issue was lacking some good leadership anecdotes I could exploit in the essays.
