If the question is written exactly like below-
2^4*2^5/2^7-2^4
What decides whether it is-
[ 2^4*2^5]/[2^7-2^4]
OR
[ 2^4*2^5/2^7]-2^4

Math rules: multiplication and division take priority over addition / subtraction.

unless there is paranthesis around (2^7-2^4), my guess would be that
[ 2^4*2^5/2^7]-2^4 is the right way to go.
