What do Kaplan's scores tell me? (taking gmat in 2 weeks...) [#permalink] New post 08 Jan 2005, 11:28
Hi,

I just discovered this site and I wish I had found it earlier!

Can someone give me some advice?
I did a Kaplan CAT, then did a Kaplan Practice Test two days later and I am not really sure what to make of my scores (I did these two tests last week).
Kaplan told me that their CATs are more difficult and it is about 100 point below how I will perform and their Practice Tests are more similar to the real gmat. I am not sure if I should trust what they say......can someone help me out please?

CAT: 580 Overall %ile: 70
Quant: 37 Verbal: 33 Quant %ile: 63 Verbal %ile: 69
(I did this one in a public computer lab and was interrupted about 4 or 5 times by friends, but I did another CAT 3 weeks ago and had a similar score)

Practice Test: 700 Overall %ile: 93
Quant: 50 Verbal: 37 Quant %ile: 96 Verbal %ile: 83

I am doing the exam on Jan 25. I currently spend the majority of my time on studying for this test.
Target schools: Oxford, Cambridge, or Yale. Any word of advice?

Extremely thankful.

Thanks a lot Paul. I'm going to keep practicing...Althought people tell me that kap's CAT scores are lower, it still doesn't make me feel comfortable when I see a 580 or a 560.
I think I'm feeling uncertain partially because I have only two weeks left... I feel like I'm losing focus and getting numbed by the questions, which can be a fatal problem and is stressing me out a bit.

btw, I saw your success story. A big congrats on kicking GMAT's ass!!!
