What do people think about the Economist MBA rankings? [#permalink]

I am concerned that the Economist MBA rankings might be misleading as they have ordered the schools quite differently to most other MBA rankings. From my own experience of visiting schools, researching MBAs etc there are some serious anomalies in there, which were partly responsible for me wasting time and money applying to and visiting a school that ended up to be disappointing. However at the same time the Economist is a seemingly highly reputable publication, can they really be so wrong? Does this particular piece of analysis reflect on the credibility of other articles in the Economist?!

It is good that you have your own opinion instead of blindly relying on the rankings. But I cannot answer your question more than that. Perhaps if you read this article, it will explain you more how Economist ranks their schools. http://www.economist.com/whichmba/2010/ ... ba-ranking

Thanks - that was a really unhelpful answer!  I actually came across the following which is a great analysis of the situation: http://poetsandquants.com/2010/09/28/th ... 0-ranking/The rankings are important for various reasons, not least because employers will consider them and also because when initially assessing schools it's reasonable for applicants to get a view from experts who have taken the time to assess the schools against a myriad of criteria. The Economist is a credible publication so people will look at it's rankings however, as this article testifies, they do contain some bizarre inconsistencies vs most other rankings
