What do you guys think of the crazy idea of burning koran? [#permalink]

I am pretty sure many of us has heard the news about some church going to burn the Koran to prove a point. Should it be allowed or not? What do the great minds at GMAT Club think about this? I cant put my finger on exactly why he is doing this besides attention seeking... The church has <50 followers so it is not really a movement - more like a nutjob decided to do something to piss off others for no good reason.

My guess - maybe he is involved with the bad guys ............... so they get one of their own to do something like this ........... then they go around killing other folks coz "someone" insulted the Koran. They need a justified reason to do whatever they want to do. So maybe they are creating the reason(s) themselves !

obviously hes a nut. Some things i just learned about him: he was kicked out of his former church for taking money from the till! at least thats what his estranged daughter claims (she's still part of his old church) His "church" is only 50 people, many of whom are against this Quran burning. I like the thread but hate the fact that this nut job with a small following gets people so riled up. Its as if a blogger with less than 50 followers has the entire nations attention. Either way he's a nut job, have you heard him speak or seen that mustache? I think, humans in general as a race wouldn't like being associated with this person.

They can't and shouldn't stop him. They can't because it would breach a few American constitutional amendments, which would be one up for terrorists. They shouldn't really stop him because if this crack-pot-David-Koresh-type-antagonist gets too much attention, it will give him and thousands of other crazies ample fuel to look for attention in other negative/dangerous ways. Chaos will ensue! A smarter way of going about it is diffusion. Obama should be literally calling the CEO's of the major broadcasting agencies and publishing companies asking for a resolute stoppage of coverage relating to this farce. Obama did enough today in that interview by saying that this guy's actions don't represent the values of normal Americans. If Obama succumbs and actually rings this guy... the crazy has won! He's the president of the united states for God sake.

I believe the best way to stop such cheap publicity stunt is to deprive (such acts) of any attention (media, people). Such people should be isolated and left alone. The way-forward is to walk-together.....
