Hi,
I'm new to the site. And I was wondering what type of score range I would need to get into a top 40 business school. I had a GPA of 2.8 from davis with a major in managerial economics and have been working for the last 2.5 years in accounting. I plan on attending school in fall 2006. Let me know if you need any other info and thanks!

Really? i was looking at average scores and it seemed those scores are close to the average. I was under the impression that my low GPA would require me to have a higher than average score......is there any kind of guideline as to what combo of gmat score/gpa is generally accepted. if i were interested in attending a top 25 school, what score should i be aiming for?
Thanks again.

The average GMAT score is 500. a 600 is in the 80th percentile.

Well, number 1 you said "top 40". Number 2 there is so much more that goes into evaluating applicants other than GPA and GMAT, it's impossible to give you an exact number that you need to get in and even if you achieve a 750, you still might not get in. That said, you could apply to a school in the 30-40 range with a 620-660 and have a decent shot at getting in.

Regarding a school in the 15-25 range, you'd probably need a score closer to 700.
