What is Net Impact? [#permalink]

Hi Folks! I see that every school has a Net Impact club. And I'm always lost as to what it is! Can you guys please tell me what Net Impact actually is? What kind of activities the members do and is it the same across schools? Cheers, gmatRetake.

It's like a club/org that you can join and participate through your bschool to volunteer in various activities. Activity depends on the school and location. It's a good way to help out a local cause and also provides valuable networking/bonding opportunities. In addition, there is a Net Impact get-together once a year (where all the bschools meet together).

Net Impact is a non profit organisation whose members strive to make a positive impact on the society, economy and environment (aka Triple Bottom Line - People, Planet, Profit). Net Impact has 3 types of chapters: Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional. As you rightly pointed out, most of the bschools in the US have a Net Impact chapter. If you are interested in working for non profits, then joining your school's Net Impact chapter is a must. It will provide you with a host of leadership, and networking opportunities. Net Impact's Business as Unusual guide is definitely worth a read. It many even help you select which schools you want to apply to  You can find loads of information @ http://www.netimpact.org
