C

What is the median number of employees assigned per project for the projects at Company Z?

(1) 25 percent of the projects at Company Z have 4 or more employees assigned to each project.
let say there are 4 project so they can have following employee distribution

1 1 1 4 ( median (1+1)/2 = 1)

1 2 2 4 ( median 2 )

Insuff

(2) 35 percent of the projects at Company Z have 2 or fewer employees assigned to each project.

rest of the 65 % can have value greater than 2 which can, so can not calculate the exact median ...

taking together ....we can conclude that rest of the 40 % projects has 3 employee...

if we arrange these in increasing order and calculate the median it will be 3

hence C

We are looking for the median, not the mean (arithmetic mean) number of employees/project at company Z. Therefore, even if 25% of the projects have 1 million assigned employees and 35% of the projects have 0 assigned employees, the middle number of employees/project will be 3.
