What is the product of a certain pair of consecutive odd integers?

1.Exactly one of the integers is negative.
2.At least one of the integers is positive.

i thought that we need to find the answer to the question and selected E as we won't be able to find the answer

Yes, we need to find an asnwer. But A is sufficient. Since we know there is a pair of integers of which exactly one is negative, the only possible pair is {-1,1} and hence the product is -1.

how if we plug the other odd numbers in? e.g. (3,-3) or (5,-5)
i'm still not sure whether the question is asked the exact number or just negative or positive number as the result
anyone can explain this to me? thanks :D

Evdo,the question statement says,
A Pair of Consecutive Odd Integers.
So,the only possibility is of (-1,1)

I hope that answers your question.

From S1, the only possibility is of -1 and 1, whereas from S2, there is possibility of not only -1 and 1, but also of 1,3 or 3,5 etc.

Thus S1 is the correct answer.

A
