What is the product of positive integers r and s ?

Notice that we are told that r and s are positive integers.

(1) 14r + s = 86. Many combinations are possible:
r=6 and s=2;
r=5 and s=16;
r=4 and s=30;
...
r=1 and s=72.

Not sufficient. (Notice that r cannot be more that 6, since in this case s must be a negative number, thus s cannot be less than 2).

(2) s < 14. Clearly insufficient.

(1)+(2) Since from (2) s<14, then s=2 and r=6. Sufficient.

Answer: C.
