What is the value of $$5x^2+4x-1?$$

(1) $$x(x+2)=0$$

(2) $$x=0$$

It's either i'm loosing it or this problem is simply that tricky. I chose B as my answer, but the OA is D??? how? what makes statement 1 suff.? In statement 1, I got 2 values for x which are 0 and -2. When you plug the different values of x into the question, you will get 2 different answers. So how is statement 1 suff.? Could this be a typo?

It doesn't make sense to me either. I tried to find x(x+2) within the equation given, and then plug in 0 for that, but wasn't able to find it. Maybe you can see where x(x+2) can be pulled out from $$5x^2+4x-1$$.

I broke down $$5x^2+4x-1$$ to $$(5x-1)(x+1)=0$$ but that didn't really help at all.

What's the source of this problem?

The source is Gmatprep, but I got this pdf file that has like 20 problems from the Gmatprep, where this problem is one of them. I'm just not sure whether this pdf file has copied the answer correctly. So i'm not even sure how correct is the OA because it was compiled by someone else.

regards,
